As you may have already noticed, we have just held our second ever StrEAT Food Awards. It was, we like to think, a great competition and you can read all about it in our coverage, which starts on page 21.

Having hit the ground running last year with our inaugural event, we felt that the second incarnation took things up a notch: we received more entrants from more caterers; its social media reach was larger; and the quality of the dishes and creativity on display was even more impressive than first time around.

As our incredibly talented overall winner, Mustafa Salimin of Restaurant Associates, says on page 24: “The standard was very high this year; I think the competition was talked about more and its profile had grown. There were 15 other chefs there, all really talented.” I can only agree with his highly professional opinion.

The StrEAT Food Awards was launched to show how contract catering is competing with the high street – and it’s fair to say that all our finalists did the industry proud. I would just like to finish by thanking all 16 for their incredible efforts and saying that we very much look forward to doing it all again next year…
