Blue Apple recently delivered its 2018/19 Sustainability and CSR Report, which highlights a wide range of initiatives across the business designed to reduce its environmental footprint and increase its positive social impact.
Since April this year, the caterer has reduced food waste by 4% across the estate and introduced its Green Apple Ambassador initiative, a team of staff from all levels of the business who are passionate about the environment and committed to achieving sustainability targets. The company has also recently been awarded an SRA Food Made Good accreditation for the second year running at one of its flagship sites in Wiltshire, and appointed an SRA champion within the business to provide ongoing support for other sites currently going through the process.
In terms of staff wellbeing, the company has introduced an employee assistance programme to provide a range of wellbeing services. This gives all staff access to unbiased and impartial advice on both work and non-work related topics, including physical and mental health issues, or financial difficulties.
Sales and marketing director Sarah Prentice said: “Sustainability and CSR are fundamental to the way we operate as a business and the initiatives we have launched, and have promised to launch going forward, are testament to that. We understand that the process is both ongoing and collaborative, therefore we work hard to ensure that our staff, clients and suppliers all buy into it in equal measures.”
