Another year passed and yet another chance to gorge yourself on the most innovative and exquisite eats that the UK foodie scene has to offer is looming. That may not narrow it down much for those of us who regularly indulge ourselves in some of the many plus points that working in this sector has to offer, but in this particular instance I’m referring specifically to our very own StrEAT Food Awards, which return to Islington Metal Works in London on 21st March.

This will be the event’s third outing and it really has built very quickly into a must-attend event in the contract catering calendar, as last year’s winner, Mustafa Salimin of Restaurant Associates, told me: “The standard was very high this year; there were 15 other chefs there, all really talented. I think the competition was talked about more and its profile had grown.”

Judging by the number, and standard, of entries we have already received, the buzz seems to be getting even bigger – but the good news is that you can still compete. The entry deadline was recently extended to 19th February, so if you’re quick, you could be following in Mustafa’s footsteps and winning the coveted title and £1,000 in prize money on 21st March.
